The Sound Your Grand Daddy Found — Bringing Country Music Back The Way It’s Supposed To Be
Anton “Nuke” Bushner was raised in Parsons, Kansas on Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, and the golden age of country radio — and he’s been on a mission to bring that sound back ever since.
A farmhand with no formal vocal training, Nuke stepped in front of the American Idol judges in Kansas City at 19 years old, sang his hero Keith Urban’s “Tonight I Wanna Cry” in a white cowboy hat, and walked out with three yeses and a Golden Ticket to Hollywood. Millions of viewers met a country singer who didn’t look or sound like anybody else on that stage — and a grassroots fanbase was born.
In the decade since, Nuke has built his career the old-fashioned way: on the road. From CMA Fest in Nashville to festival stages alongside outlaw-country royalty Whey Jennings, from Country Rebel’s acoustic sessions to honky-tonks and fairgrounds across the Midwest, he’s earned every fan one show at a time. His originals — “Country Boy Kinda Thang,” “Cowskin Creek,” “Tailgate Love Song” — blend nostalgic country roots with a contemporary edge, and his 65,000-strong TikTok following proves the appetite for real country is alive and well.
More than a rising star, Nuke is a devoted father whose guitar carries stories straight from America’s heartland — faith, family, loss, and the backroads that raised him.
Kansas-born country singer Nuke Bushner earned a Golden Ticket on American Idol Season 14 with a Keith Urban cover that won over all three judges. Since then he’s shared stages with Whey Jennings, featured in Country Rebel’s acoustic sessions, and built a devoted following with originals like “Country Boy Kinda Thang” — traditional country, the way it’s supposed to be.
